Note to self, “Measure twice, cut once”.
If anyone needs cedar kindling for their fireplace let me know. The planters look great BTW.

I picked up an iPhone this past Friday at the local Rogers wireless store out here. What can I say the 9 hour wait to finally activate the phone was worth it.
If you haven’t checked out the iPhone the best place to do so would be the Apple Store in Pacific Centre downtown. Although they don’t sell the phones (you have to go to a Fido or Rogers dealer for them) they have a bunch of them on display for you to play with. Best of all if you have any questions they have more than enough staff to answer them for you.
A few weeks ago my brother gave me a bottle of Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin for looking after his cat Verbal while he was away at the Junos in Calgary. I finally decided to crack it open and try it the other night.

Finally after waiting for almost 2 months our table we ordered is arriving today. We purchased a dining table from a furniture store that shall go unnamed because I will probably never order from there again because of the runaround in getting the table. But at least it is finally on the delivery truck.
The table we ordered is called the Chunk Dining Table from a company called Gus Modern out of Toronto.

Well it’s official, Apple now has a store in Vancouver. The grand opening was today at 10:00 am. Although I was in town today I decided to skip the opening because of the long lines. After all I have visited an Apple Retail store before when I was in Las Vegas and also because I really don’t need anything “Apple” related right now.

I just rrrolled up the rim and won a donut! I don’t really eat donuts but I think I will get a Boston Creme.

Last week Jason and I went to the SPCA and adopted a new cat into the family. Mr. Sawyer is his name and he is getting along great with The Monkey. He was in the SPCA awaiting adoption for over 6 months so needless to say he is glad he is in a new permanent home.

Awe, that’s unfortunate. I know how you feel. Neil and I took a wood-working class at The Roundhouse and decided to make our wine cabinets after the course using their workshop. The first round didn’t work out at all. We measured twice, but we started off with the wrong measurements, so our design was flawed from the beginning. Now we have piles of cut 12-ply birch that are too small to do anything with. With all the glue between the layers, they’re not even useful for kindling. It must feel great to have your own space to do such handy projects. It sounds like you’re really enjoying the new lifestyle.
The biggest learning curve I have had with the measurements is that everything is in Imperial. Having grown up only using the Metric system it has been a bit of an adjustment.
Yes, indeed. I started working at a custom window treatments store during university. That was my first realization that no one uses metric in carpentry and I’m assuming many other trades, considering building materials are still sold in Imperial units. I think that was the first realization that the school curriculum was out of touch with reality.
